The world has fundamentally changed, and our old social contracts are breaking down while Big Tech exploits the chaos.
Think about what’s happened just in the past few years. Political divisions have reached fever pitch, with each side viewing the other not as fellow citizens with different opinions, but as existential threats. Big Tech companies that once positioned themselves as neutral platforms now openly influence elections and social movements. Government agencies that promised to protect our privacy have been caught surveilling citizens on unprecedented scales.
And in this new reality, the gentle agreements that once protected us—privacy policies, terms of service, regulatory compliance—have become Big Tech’s weapons of exploitation disguised as protection.

We’ve watched Big Tech social media platforms promise to protect user privacy while simultaneously building the most sophisticated surveillance apparatus in human history and selling access to political operatives and influence campaigns. We’ve seen healthcare companies sell patient data to insurance companies to help them deny coverage and to political campaigns that exploit health vulnerabilities. We’ve witnessed educational technology companies profile children and sell that data to marketers, law enforcement, and political influence operations that target families based on their children’s behavioral patterns.
